I'm sad to say my stay at the Villa de Buena Vista was the wort vacation of my adult life. The problem is not with the site, the view or the local area. These actually were wonderful and I would highly recommend visiting Paso Robles and the Central Coast of California. The problem with the Villa de Buena Vista, you see, is the management. After paying an exorbitant price for a bed & breakfast, we found that the rooms were not clean, there were no towels available, no key to the room was provided, and when we had questions or needed assistance we received neither. It seems that the management of this facility operate as a husband and wife team, with the wife serving as the manager of the B&B and breakfast cook. The breakfast on both mornings was substandard and was nothing close to the wonderful spread that was advertised. We had arrived late on Friday night and had a full day of sightseeing on Saturday, so I inquired abot a late checkout on Sunday, only to be met with a lecture. "This is our home and we require our private time," we were told in a harsh voice. A simple no would have sufficed but I was left standing there feeling like a scolded child after a simple question. My advice: find another local B&B to stay at and have a nice time. If you do stay at the Villa de Buena Vista, bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and towels, and for goodness sake don't ask for anything or you will pay the price.
Pros: The view is quie nice
Cons: The management

I just have to say that My experience at the Villa de Buena Vista was nothing but extradonary, we had a very peaceful and relaxing time, the owners Charlie and Patti are some of nicest people I will ever met, Breakfast was the one of best parts of our stays, very good and relaxing taking our time. We came and went as we wanted and were never asked a question about it. We felt so much at home that sometimes we had to pinch ourselves that we were just visiting. I will defintily be returning and cant wait to just go and not have a care in the world as they take of everything Thanks again Charlie and Patti
Pros: The hospitality
Cons: none

I’ve traveled extensively worldwide, and I’ve never been compelled to write a negative review until now. I feel obligated to share the incident because what my fiancé and I experienced during our stay was so disturbing and sad, that we have to warn others. We spent a weekend staying at the Villa de Buena Vista in Paso Robles, California and expected to have a nice time touring vineyards, tasting wine, and getting away from the fast pace of Los Angeles life. Instead we were met with an angry innkeeper who made our weekend so unpleasant that we left early and stayed at a nearby hotel. The owners of the Bed & Breakfast seemed like kind and inviting people until shortly after we arrived. It’s clear to us now that the owners actually resent the presence of guests on their property, and any misstep on the part of a guest will be immediately met with an angry confrontation. This 3-room B&B is arranged with 2 rooms set aside from the main building and one guest room located inside the main house situated upstairs next to the owner’s master bedroom. On one occasion we entered the side door of the house to go up to our room. The owner was waiting for us and scolded us for not respecting their privacy, calling us “rude” and other remarks. We explained that we were just going to our room but to no avail. After we got into our room, we found that things had been moved, as if someone had been in our room. The next day I asked the owners about this, and they didn’t admit having been in the room, but acted as thought they thought this would be justified saying that, “This is our home, after all.” Our experience at breakfast was also very poor. The owner was on the phone most of the time and didn’t attend to us. Finally we left and ate our Breakfast downtown. The owners often complained to us about how the Bed & Breakfast has made their life at unpleasant. I have to ask, if you don’t enjoy the presence of guests on your property, why would you operate a Bed & Breakfast?
Pros: A nice view and elegant architecture.
Cons: Any misstep will lead to an angry confrontation.

I have had the great pleasure of staying at Villa de Buena Vista on several occassins, The trip was very relaxing and enjoyable, Charlie and Patti are very nice and go out of thier way to make sure that you are having an enjoyable time. The grounds are beautiful and quite relaxing. I have taken my children there and Charlie and Patti are nothing but great to them as well. Everyone has fallen in love with Villa de Buena Vista and sure we will return again. And if I ever marry, they will be top on my list.
Pros: Patti and Charlie and of course Petey
Cons: none

My fiancé and I attended a friend's wedding here recently, and host of the venue was absolutely awful. Prior to the wedding, she canceled pre-wedding meetings between the bride and her vendors saying she needed some "time off" but didn't tell the bride this. The bride traveled from out of state only to find that her meetings were canceled. On the night prior to the wedding, she actually raised her voice and yelled at the bride in my presence, angry over some minor detail that was out of place. I was with the bride for many of her wedding planning meetings, and I know she was very organized, but the host of the venue was just terrible to her. The night before her wedding, I had to watch my friend break down into tears after the previously mentioned angry exchange. It seemed the host of the venue was actually working to sabotage the wedding in small ways! If you do decide to use the Villa de Buena Vista, or if you’re unlucky enough to have already signed a contract, you will find that the host of this venue was able to maintain her professionalism just long enough for you to sign the contract and then the good side of her will go away. My fiancé and I were actually considering using this venue for our wedding until we saw our friends' experience. There were some other posts on this site from other people that seemed to have had a similar experience with this venue, but they have been removed for some reason. If you have also had a bad experience with the Villa de Buena Vista, please post your experience, so others can avoid the same unfortunate experience.
Pros: The site is beautiful and clean
Cons: The venue host is very difficult to work with

We stayed at Villa de Buena Vista in February 2007 with some friends and thought it was a vacation paradise. The entire weekend was flawless, the grounds are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the food and wine were wonderful and the owners were incredibly hospitable. Before the weekend was over, we were calling them Aunt Patti & Uncle Charlie because we felt we were staying with our favorite relatives. We loved our experience so much, we’ve booked the entire Villa for return trips in March and October this year. We can’t wait to be repeat guests and feel so fortunate that Patti & Charlie would open their slice of heaven to complete strangers! In my experience, Patti has been nothing but a gracious host. She is professional, easy to work with and gives great recommendations for wineries and restaurants. She’ll even make reservations for you and set up private tastings. Villa de Buena Vista is a dream and we highly recommend it!
Pros: Spacious, comfortable rooms, amazing views, wonderful hosts
Cons: None

We just return from visiting family in Paso Robles. My sister set us up at the beautiful Villa de Buena Vista B&B-Wow what a wonderful place. We had such a relaxing and peaceful visit. Our family was able to join us one afternoon for wine & cheese at the Villa-it was a treat for everyone. Our room was warm and beautiful, just what we were looking for and the entertainment room was out of this world. The owners were great to hang out with and gave us lot of local information about the wine business and the Central Coast. One night we had a great time with the owners playing a fun new wine board game with them. The grounds were beautiful even in their winter state and I can't wait to come back to see them in the Spring or Summer. We hope to return with some good friends next year and enjoy all the wonderful things that Villa de Buena Vista has to offer. Leeann, in Reno, NV
Pros: Beautiful ambience, great service, wonderful food & wine
Cons: Little far from town

I recently had my wedding at Villa De Buena Vista and stayed two nights there with my family, it was the best experience ever!!!! The Villa was beautiful and our wedding was wonderful. Patti was so helpful and such a delight to work with. She thoroughly went through her contract and made sure we understand the rules and conditions of having such an event at her home. I think others need to respect the contract that we are all required to sign in order to have a wedding there and also respect that it is their private home. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and stressful but we had such a great experience there and look forward to sharing many more romantic nights at Villa De Buena Vista. Not to mention the breakfast was to die for, Patti is such a good chef and made some wonderful dishes!!! Don't believe the hype this place is wonderful.
Pros: Beautiful grounds and great rooms
Cons: Rooms get booked fast because it is beautiful!!!!!

My husband and I stayed at Villa de Buena Vista in July 2007. As a matter of fact, everything negative that's been written is quite opposite from what we experienced. I suppose if I were a bride and wanted everything my way regardless of rules established for the safety of guests and welfare of the property, I could go on a rampage to destroy someone's livelihood. (When you read the posts on the local Website, there are many common threads in this tapestry that are very telltale for sensible readers.) Had I not visited this lovely inn, I'd have no reference point. We were originally only going to stay one night. Because this location and owners were so wonderful in every way, we canceled other plans and stayed on with them longer. We were given very special attention. Breakfast was warm and delicious. Hospitality was over the top. We watched TV with Patty one night in her common room, with their (very) wide screen TV, and huge overstuffed leather chairs... This room is open to their guests. We enjoyed complimentary afternoon wine and appetizers, and Patti was very helpful with where to go and what to visit. The trip evolved into home away from home for us, and lately I've been yearning to return. There isn't a sweeter couple, and their location is sublime. I'd return anytime... To each his or her own... I stopped taking wedding photos as soon as my first bride (after twenty or so weddings) copped some kind of wicked attitude. Hopefully, Patti and Charlie will continue to give brides a really special location, because it's a fairly tale setting; and, the Youngclaus' are a delightful couple running a very professional operation.
Pros: The people, Charlie and Patti Youngclaus
Cons: Not having more time to stay longer
